Giant Julie in Japan?!?

While we are waiting for Eric to get images and video from the show for me to post, I thought I would tell you all a bit about my current pre-occupation........ aside from Cosmo that is.

At the show, I agreed to go to Japan in November to teach some classes. After I agreed, the reality of what I had just done began to settle in. I hate flying, so there's that. I hate being away from my kids and home, so there's that too. But what worries me most might seem silly to the rest of you. It's the size of the Japanese people.

People who travel might have noticed that size and weight are actually relative. Go to New York from Salt Lake and somehow you will gain twenty pounds during the flight. In fact, just moving from Centerville to Providence has been tough on the old body image. When I moved in, the average size changed from 4 to 6. I have a neighbor that is actually a fitness model for QVC! You know how when you look at magazines you tell yourself that those women aren't real? Well, I hate to break it to you, but they are and they all live in my neighborhood.

When I was scheduled to teach in South Africa last year, I was worried that I would "feel fat" the whole time. At one point before the trip they called to ask my tee shirt size. I suggested a large and when they said they thought for sure a small or medium would be better I knew South Africa was a place I could be happy in.

But, Japan is another story. They are so petite and I am so..... ummmmmmm...... not petite. So, I am starting the Julie will not be Giant in Japan scrapbook and you can join me. I will be posting workout routines, favorite recipes and photos of my changing physique (don't worry, we'll post other stuff too).

We have three months ladies! We can be fit and trim in time to gain it all back over the holidays....... just kidding, I meant in time to show off to all the family and friends we'll see over the holidays!

Hey Julie! Here is a great little recipe for you to get that chocolate and ice cream fix - take two chocolate graham crackers and add a dollop (sp?) of fat free coolwhip in the middle, smush together and freeze. Quick, easy, and tasy treat for those of us not wanting to be GIANT! Enjoy!

Thanks, I might have to try that!

When i quit smoking 4 months ago, i said i wouldnt gain weight, because i was eating healthier, well i did, and ya know it took me 3 months to realize that hey, i might be 20 larger, but im 90% healthier. I have nothing for you but a good luck and ill route you on!

LOL! Like you Julie I am 'not petite' ... & I remember the Alphaville song too - loved it in my teens!
Been toying with the idea of losing some weight/shaping up too - so count me in!
Beverley will no longer be big in the UK (well not in a fat way, at least! LOL)

Ok Julie you are NOT a giant, um you are just tall and no diet is going to change that, now I don't see you going clothes or shoe shopping over there, but you don't seem like the kimono type anyway.

I have only recently discovered your website and I love it. The "Julie Choos" being put up for sale, the warehouse videos, and the husband panic button totally makes me laugh...I want to work there!! As far as being a giant, however, I can't think of a way that a person can lose height...that's all I noticed in the warehouse videos...kind of like Bill Murray in "Lost In Translation" when he was on the elevator...too funny! I hope you find the Japanese to be such a gracious people that they put you at such ease and you are so blessed by the whole experience! Good luck getting shorter!

Oh, Julie!

I wouldn't say big just TALL! LOL! But at least our Japanese friends will not loose you in the crowd which is a good thing!

Hope you got my email on those "J(apanese)" words :0)

Got my magazine from Emi and it was chalk-full of Cosmo Cricket stuff! WOW!

I have to say that SparkPeople has been extremely helpful in my own efforts! Although if you're large, I don't know what that says about me. :D
