I am downstairs in my office looking out at the dark, grey sky and telling myself that spring will come. There is rain drizzling down the window and it's cold, but spring will come! Last year, our spring was very, very late...... it even snowed in June. One day, my daughter came to me, in tears, worried that we were going to miss all of spring. I told her what I'm telling myself now........ spring will come!
The above layout is of said daughter last year when spring finally came. I have used this photo before, but I just love it! I saw a project in Simply Handmade by Pamella Brown, that I used as inspiration (I love that magazine!).
I've included directions for my layout. You are free to download these and use them for yourself. If you own a store, feel free to make kits and or teach classes with them. The only thing I don't want you to feel free to do is charge anyone just for the instructions! Thanks!

Can you explain how you "tear & curl"? #7.
I can never get the affect that you have. Thanks.
Hi Gel-Oh,
The easiest way for me to do that technique is to run over the edge to be torn and curled with a paper distresser first. I use Tim Holtz edge distresser. This softens up the edge and makes it easier to work with. Then I just make about 1/4-1/2 inch tear in the paper and curl the edge up by rolling it tightly with my fingers.
WOW - you make it sound so easy! It looks awesome~
i knew there must be a way to explain that flower in less than 7 minutes :D ;)
Love your layout!
Beautiful layout. I love the tattered layers of paper.
That makes me wish spring is here too! Thanks for sharing
Thanks Julie, You are so sweet to share!
don't think Spring's in any hurry to get here either - we are currently under almost a foot of snow in Bonny Scotland
Awesome project - thanks for sharing the directions!!!!
beautiful layout and thank you for sharing.
Such a pretty layout! Love the torn/curled paper look! TFS!! :)
What a BEAUTIFUL layout! You're a pro with those flowers now! Love it! That's a great photo too, and I love her t-shirt!
Beautifully done Julie! Ok, have been holding off on the TH distresser as I figured running my craft knife blade over the edges kind of does the same thing, BUT I love the look and the distresser tool would be much safer to use, could probably even get my younger one to help me. (LOL)
Hey thanks for the shout out! LOVE your layout. Would you mind if we post it on our Simply Handmade blog?
Lovely layout and love the flower :o) Since the video I've been trying these out with many different papers. So glad you shared the how-to!
This softens up the edge and makes it easier to work with.
send flowers
