Meet Me

I wanted to write an entry with 25 random things about Lindsay, but so far, he has refused to write his list. Something about being too busy?!?! I mean really, CHA was ages ago. Surely he's caught up by now. It's not like he and I are leaving for a huge event in a couple days or something. We have a whole week and a half! That's oodles of time to take care of all our stores, get everything ready for an event and write 25 random, little things. But men, they just can't multi-task as well as us women! So, try to be understanding.

OK, enough teasing for Lindsay, you'll just have to meet me. Here are 25 random things (those of you who are friends with me on facebook, might know these already):

1. I love fake eyelashes. I think they are super fun and flirty. My faves are Mac #20's.
2. My favorite treat ever is Hot Chocolate.
3. I use to be on the board of directors for the Utah Branch of the International Dyslexia Association (that is my dyslexic son on their home page). I am a certified reading instructor and huge advocate for people with reading disabilities. I am also or have been an art director, freelance copywriter and mom of four.
4. I love playing Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero, but I'm not any good at either.
5. My good friend, Lindsay, says I'm way too practical, logical and direct for a girl. This does make it hard for me to become close friends with girls. Almost all my close friends are male and have been since I was 12.
6. I haven't had any treats or junk food for more than five weeks.
7. I have lots of phobias including spiders, lightening, airports and fire. It's amazing I function as normally as I do. I once threatened to fire Lindsay (in front of his mother) for teasing me with a spider.
8. I didn't light a match until my twenties and I have never lit a lighter.... see number seven.
9. I have a neurological disorder. And, the best part about it is the shock value in that statement! It's called CMT and I am on the very mild side of the spectrum.
10. I love to sew and design most of my skirts.
11. I married Eric when I was 19.
12. My feet are different sizes.... we are talking about two-three inches difference.
13. I was/am an academic nerd graduating with honors from High School and College.
14. I color my hair myself with the Loreal highlighting kit. I like the color Ginger Twist. My natural haircolor is Baby Blonde...... you know super-white. It never went any darker than when I was little, although people always promised it would. I gave up waiting at 32.
15. If I find a song I like, I will listen to it on repeat for days and days until another one comes along and takes its place.
16. I spend almost every minute of every day with my hubby. We work less than three feet from each other.
17. My favorite movie is Man of La Mancha.
18. I love my kids. I have the best kids!
19. I use to play the violin and was even a member of the Utah Old Time Fiddlers when I was young.
20. I am the middle child of 5. One brother and three sisters.
21. I have been on the cereal aisle of the super market with Karl Malone from the Utah Jazz.... he is HUGE!
22. I love childhood poems, rhyming, writing funny little things and daydreaming.
23. I lived with a family in Spain for the summer when I was 15.
24. I love going on evening walks with Eric.
25. I sleep on my tummy using less than an inch of the edge of my pillow.

Tell us a random, little thing about yourself and you could win a prize. And what's more, I'll let you pick! The winner will get to choose a Paper Crafting Kit from any of our lines.

Hey, one more thing about me...... I am not a spectacular scrapbooker. Ok, I know, you already know that. So here is another project by Tami Comstock. This is an inexpensive, simple way to create a beautiful photo display in your home. I love it!

Hee hee, funny facts! My feet aren't the same size either. But the thing with no junk food - you're a goddess!! Hm a random thing... I love Craig Ferguson and would instantly marry him, even though he's the age of my mom, i.e. 22 years older than me. :D Creepy I know! Though he wouldn't want to, he always claims he's been divorced twice etc.

I can't spend any minute of any day doing nothing. I have to always be multitasking. Just watching TV, no way. If I have the TV on I am crafting or reading a book at the same time. Those who love to lay in the sun or veg on the couch just don't understand me.

I have trouble getting through the day without a Coke. True story. I tried once to quit Coke cold-turkey, and I lasted only 8 days. And it was AWFUL. I told my husband I would rather starve myself to lose weight than give up Coke.

my husband is dyslexic. He had such a hard time in school that his mom pulled him out in 2nd grade. They found a wonderful school for him ( also found out he was dyslexic when she pulled him out of school ). He had wonderful teachers and ended up going to college and then on to dental school. Dental school was tough for him but he did it!!! I am so proud of him for everything he has accomplished. Kudos for all your hard work.

I have anosmia - I can't smell anything, good or bad. I figure there are a lot of bad smells so I got lucky on that.

Hm... something about me.

I have a fear of balloons. A terrible fear of balloons, when we go to the mall or my kids get balloons at the bank, I have to put them in the very back of the van and let the air out with out their knowledge- and with out popping them. I'd much rather be afraid of spiders. Or lightening. My poor kids. I try to be okay with at least mylar balloons... it just doesn't work.

I think I need a support group. The thought of a balloon alone makes me cringe.

Something random....I love foster's donuts...they are my comfort food *smile*. I think it is because when I was a little girl my grandpa always took me out to get donuts and let me eat way more than I should but told me not to tell my mom. I always told her *grin*, and even after she would scold him we would do it again the next time. That's what grandpa's are for right? *wink*

Random huh? Well, I met my husband at a skating rink. I worked the snack bar and he worked at the skate counter. But the funnest part is his grandmother was the secretary in the office when MY DAD worked at the skating rink about 10 years prior. Ok this gets good. When my dad worked at the rink I was always there, and when I grew out of my old skates my mom bought a new pair for me, they were the secretaries grandson's old skates. So I apparently wore my husbands old skates years prior to us meeting!! Very cool.

Hi Julie, nice to know a little more about you - fun read!

Here's my random thing - I love the smell of suntan lotion! Reminds me of being a kid out in the California sun - at the beach, in the mountains, out trying to get a tan (which I finally gave up at age 17 because no one could see a difference anyway). Quickest cure for the winter time blues is to put on a little suntan lotion. Instant summer! :-)

Me too on #8 & #12 --- and my feet are wide, but different widths - it is impossible to buy shoes!

Random thing about me --- my younger sister got her driver's license before me. Way before me. And I never failed the test either. I got my permit the summer I turned 21 and didn't get my license until after I finished college - both because my parents said I had to. I guess I am 'glad' now that I chauffeur my kids around?

How do you buy shoes?? Does the small foot just have to live in a shoe that's too big? what about flip flops?

I did this on facebook too, but didn't really think there was too much to tell. Probably one thing nobody knows about me (this wasn't on my list) is that when I brush my teeth I love to hunt around on my head for grey hairs. LOL There aren't many YET, but it helps pass the two minutes of tooth brushing time. hehe

The only thing I'm sad about is losing the week of ice cream most kids get. Oh, well...add that to never having had chickenpox until I was 26 and getting my first filling at age 35...I guess I'm a freak! =D

I had a temporary phobia about knives while I was pregnant with my third child. I was terrified that I was going to cut myself anytime I had to prep food for a meal. I sometimes wonder if my mind manufactured this as a creative way to get out of cooking when I was so tired all the time. It went away gradually after I had the baby and never came back.

FUN facts! I love reading these! I am so very impressed with the fact that it's been FIVE weeks since you had a treat! Wow, huge congratulations on that one, because that is very difficult!! I'm not sure how random this is, but I really dislike talking on the phone. I would rather send an email than talk on the phone. It's not that I don't like to talk to people, because I do, but I just hate holding the phone up to my ear! If I had a hands-free phone, and I could hear really well using it, I would probably be fine!

LOVED reading these.

Fun fact about me: I am the ultimate multi-tasker. I have been known to do up to 10 things at one time, and most of them come out very well. Case in point last night; I worked on laundry, including touch up ironing when I went into the room, in my craft room, I was working on a batch of cards that I had put togther but not assembled, I was using the Cricut to cut out 200 hearts for a party this weekend, I took a shower as my second bathroom is in the laundry room; and finally, I was doing homework for my calculus class (by the way, when in your 50's and you decide to go back to college, just say NO.). All this I accomplished from 7:00 p.m. to 10:44 p.m. when I closed up shop and went upstairs to watch the news before going to sleep.

Whew - no wonder I'm a bit tired this morning!

Hugs,
Debi from Rittman, OH

I'd rather drive an old car than a new one. One that I'm familiar with, I mean...it's hard switching to something very different than what you've been used to for 25 years...yowzers....I may have to switch back.

I love to walk in the rain/snow and buy flowers online to your loved one.
