Another Grey Day

We have had so many grey days in Providence that we've almost forgotten what the blue sky looks like. I have decided that my children are going to look in the crayon box for sky grey instead of sky blue. It's been pretty dreary. So, I have a proposal. Leave a comment telling me your favorite "get happy" song. I will gift the first 10 plus the winner's choice from itunes to one lucky person who's name is drawn. You have to post your song to be entered.

I'll start with my favorite, "New Soul" by Yeal Naim.

Others I like are "Everyone's Rooting for You" by Sondre Lerche and, of course, "Hey Julie" by Fountains of Wayne.

Oh Canada!

Lindsay and I went to Canada for an event a couple of weeks ago. I taught a Blackboard Album class and thought I'd put the instruction sheets here for your enjoyment. And, I threw in a couple photos of myself. Yes, it's true, I look a little too happy hugging that chocolate kiss. It's just that I have imagined finding a chocolate kiss that big for quite some time. It was like a dream come true. OK, I'm not being serious. But, I do love chocolate and I get really excited about it.

Jon the Warehouse Guy has a Baby!

This is not a trick. This is not a marketing gimmick. Jon is still our warehouse guy, but more importantly he is the proud father of my sister's baby...... their first. Mary was born last Saturday weighing in at 8lbs 6oz. Becky and Jon are doing great. Here are some photos, taken by Becky. The one of Jon and the baby she emailed me. The other I stole from her site. Where Oh Where Has My Blog Posting Gone?

So, my friend Suezi from Me and My Big Ideas just emailed me about the lack of posting on the blog. She is not the first to have raised concern and so, I thought I would tell you what I've told her........... the non-official, completely true, top-secret story. Here goes:

I got really sick right after CHA. I was in bed for almost two weeks, which put me behind on my work..... as you can imagine. Then, when I got better, I only had a few weeks to get all my design work done for our next release (a May release, this is the top secret part).

I had just created Cogsmo, our fastest selling line ever. And, I have created all the number one selling lines to date (don't tell Eric that I told). But, for some reason I couldn't come up with anything worthwhile this time around. The pressure to have theeeeee great line for Cosmo Cricket was intense. Lindsay was calling me everyday saying, I can't wait to see your line. Eric was saying things like, you'll do it, you always do. But, I just couldn't come up with anything. It was a complete block.

After about two weeks of trying, I had this little emotional breakdown and told everyone to back off and not very politely. Seriously, they were afraid of me for quite a while. I think they are barely recovering now.

Then, two days before the work deadline, I had this major breakthrough and designed the entire line in one day. After that, I was in Canada for Open Page's event and then I just got back from Spring Break in southern Utah with my family.

Anyway, now I will be getting back to the blog.

Completely Non Scrapbooking Related

This is Jack. It's true he is completely irresistible with those little buck teeth and mischievous eyes. And, it's a good thing too, because this young man refuses to be potty trained.

I have trained three children already and so I have the general idea down. But, this child wakes up dry. He gets me a diaper before he's gone in the one he's wearing. If he's in the tub and he gets the urge, he tells me that he needs a diaper. Everything seems ready to go for potty training right? OHHHHH noooo!!! Because this sweet, adorable child will have nothing to do with the potty. He cannot be bribed. He cannot be enticed. He cannot be tricked.

And, speaking of potties. I had to go shopping for a new one because our previous one got thrown out when we moved. I now own three different potties. The problem with the first one was the little boy's guard. It is way too small to guard anything. If he were to actually pee while sitting on it we would have a mess all over!

So, I was on to potty purchase number 2. This time, I made sure that the guard was big enough. What I didn't consider was that it might fall off at the slightest touch, landing on the floor where it can't guard anything....... or worse yet, landing IN the potty.

Needless to say, I was back at the store for my current potty purchase. The fancy potty. This potty makes lots of noises. It has a pretend flusher and toilet paper roll that play songs when they're used. It congratulates your child for opening it, sitting on it and peeing in it........ if only my child would do these things!

Silk Ribbon Thank You's

For very special people and very special projects, I love using silk ribbon. This is a product used by people who love doing silk ribbon embroidery, so if you go looking for it, look by the embroidery floss.

You'll find silk is the most wonderful stuff to work with. It comes in lots of beautiful colors and it bunches and gathers in the loveliest way. Here I simply used a needle to stitch it in and around the die-cut flowers and as the border. (Click on the image to get a better look at what I'm talking about.)
